EcoBound Mountain Events
EcoBound is a family of enthusiastic individuals that are passionate about the great outdoors! They share a united love for all aspects of adventure sport. While some might say that running a family ‘business’ is taboo, they somehow make it work and produce some of SA’s top rated sport events, bearing in mind – that most of them have day jobs!
The creator, Wikus van Der Walt, started EcoBound in 1996 from his combined love for cycling and the outdoors. Since then Wikus and his family have organized prestige events like South Africa’s first Mountain Bike Stage race; The To Hell and Back. This event forms an important part of the history of mountain biking in this country and is over two decades old.
The Trans Baviaans 24Hr MTB Marathon is well known in the mountain biking fraternity. Known as the toughest single stage race in SA, it attracts so many riders that a second event follows on the subsequent weekend.
EcoBound’s success is attributed to all of the combined ideas and input of each member. They strive to create unique and extraordinary events, always maintaining that personal touch. They are known for their one-of-a-kind events and their passionate attitude for this lifestyle.
oZone Africa
oZone is a recent collaboration between award-winning photojournalist and photographer, Jacques Marais, and Adventure Specialist, Zane Schmahl, a key member of the ECOBOUND Events Team.
Jacques is a professional photographer and author who regularly contributes to a wide selection of premium adventure-, travel- and outdoor magazines around the globe. As a premier columnist for the Media 24 national newspapers, his photographs and articles are published widely, and he has authored more than a dozen outdoor books and guides.
Zane has been central to a range of trendsetting outdoor sporting events as both Project Manager and Race Director. His key focus areas are Marketing, Sales, Event Logistics and Media Planning & Coordination.
And now these two #oZone natural-movers and tree-shakers are planning on turning the outdoor media business on its head. As a team they will strive to provide clients with a comprehensive strategy BIG PICTURE Plan, addressing all their media, marketing and sales requirements.
